AFENET Nigeria attended and participated in the 2019 mid-year health system strengthening program review meeting in Kano State. The meeting which held on July 20, 2019 reviewed progress of the tripartite agreement between the Kano state government, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and Aliko Dangote Foundation. Hosted at the government house, the meeting was chaired by the Executive Governor of Kano state, His Excellency, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje with Mr Bill Gates and Alhaji Aliko Dangote participating through a video conference.In attendance were Royal fathers from Kano state emirate council and development partners.
The Country Director of AFENET Nigeria, Dr Patrick Nguku, who spoke on behalf of all development partners, applauded the success of the tripartite agreement that has resulted in routine immunization system strengthening and polio eradication efforts. He solicited more support from the donors, state and partners in health system strengthening and said “we do more when we are united and work together. The Nigerian child is our child and one of the best things we can give him/her, is a healthy future”.
The team also visited and met the Director of PH, NSTOP staff in 2 LGAs and Residents and Graduates of FELTP to discuss strategies to effectively use FELTP graduates to support primary healthcare strengthening in Kano State.
